Read as simply malefic. 擎羊 is the other face of decisiveness: it lets you use the knife, and the cost is cutting too deep sometimes.
擎羊 and 陀羅, together 羊陀, sit permanently on either side of 祿存 — the structure underlying what the tradition calls being hemmed by 羊陀. It says something plain: where there is resource there is attrition, and the attrition isn't an accident, it's part of the configuration.
擎羊 is metal, and the fast kind of attrition: conflict, rupture, an injury in the moment. Its upside is decisiveness — plenty of situations need someone to speak first or use the knife first, and this star is what moves them. The tradition says 擎羊 transforms into 刑, and 刑 isn't only harm; it's also regulation and judgement.
The practical reading treats it as intensity rather than disaster: things in this palace won't be lukewarm, arriving fast and finishing fast. Knowing you cut too deep in this area is what buys you one more question before the knife.
