Hurting OfficerThe ten gods (BaZi)BaZi · Four Pillars of Destiny

傷官 is what you produce at opposite polarity. Like 食神 it's output; the difference is intensity and direction. 食神 grows along your own grain, 傷官 grows against the given frame. So what 食神 makes is easily accepted, and what 傷官 makes is rejected first and acknowledged later.

The name means injuring 正官 — the officer, the norm, the institution. Which explains its two faces: to a system it's trouble, to progress it's the engine. Most historical change was pushed by people who wouldn't accept the current rules.

The practical reading is talent plus friction. Someone with 傷官 strong is usually very capable and usually unhappy where obedience is required. The traditional advice is that 傷官 needs an outlet — a stage where the rebellion is legitimate does far more than suppression.
