Seven KillingsThe ten gods (BaZi)BaZi · Four Pillars of Destiny

七殺 is what controls you at opposite polarity. What controls you is called 官殺 collectively, and it stands for the forces that bind: rules, superiors, responsibility, external demand. 七殺 is the fierce one of the two.

Control across opposite polarity is the strongest force there is, so 七殺's pressure isn't a gentle reminder, it's compulsion. The tradition's verdict on it reversed over time: early on it read as malefic, and later schools generally hold that 殺為權 — 七殺 with enough day-master strength behind it is the source of decisiveness and drive. The difference isn't in the star, it's in whether you can carry it.

So the practical reading is a strength test. 七殺 strong with a weak day master is being driven; 七殺 strong with a strong one is pressure you can spend. The point was never removing the pressure — it's growing until you can hold it.
