The Projector carries no continuous source of energy of its own. That reads as bad news until you look at what it bought: the ability to see through other people's systems. With no engine to attend to, attention goes outward — you can't help reading how a thing runs, where it's jammed, who's actually driving. In a world that prices output that capacity is hard to invoice, but placed right it's worth far more than extra hours.

You'll recognise it here: you can name an organisation's real problem three days in; past a certain number of working hours you don't get tired, you get sharp-edged; and advice given without being asked comes back cold — even when the advice was right.

Running well, you're the one whose single sentence turns the whole thing. That sentence has a hard precondition: they have to want to hear it. Which is what the 'wait for the invitation' strategy is actually about — not passivity, but the fact that the same words carry weight when asked for and register as noise when not. The signal when it's off is bitterness: the sourness of giving a lot and not being credited. It usually reports not that you weren't good enough, but that you were standing in the wrong place. So a Projector's effort is best spent on being seen rather than on doing more. Finding the people who'll ask you outperforms producing more work.
