A Seven is avoiding 'pain, deprivation, being trapped', and the compensating strategy is to have a next option at all times — plans, possibilities and novelty keep attention out ahead, where the present discomfort can't reach. It's the head-centre type that runs outward: a Five handles fear with knowledge, a Six with preparation, a Seven by leaving.
The key to the mechanism is reframing: a Seven can turn a bad thing into a good one and a limit into freedom — a gift, and this type's main way of escaping pain. You think you're thinking positively; often you're just exiting fast.
Where you'll recognise it: many threads open at once, commitment makes you uneasy, boredom is harder to bear than tiredness, a low mood makes you want to plan something. Running well, a Seven is the liveliest person around and the one who lifts everyone else: full of ideas, optimistic, turning trouble into adventure. Stuck, you scatter — touching everything, deep in nothing, fun turned compulsory. Under stress the line runs to One (suddenly critical, judgemental, rigid); in growth it runs to Five (finally able to be quiet, focused, deep in one thing). For a Seven, staying inside something until it deepens is the least instinctive road and the richest.
