Called the conflict aspect. An opposition needs both ends; it isn't asking you to pick, and the ones who pick stay stuck longest.

In depthopposite

An opposition is a hundred and eighty degrees: two bodies at the ends of the ecliptic. The geometry says it plainly — each can see the other and neither can reach it. So an opposition isn't a contradiction, it's tension, and tension has a function: it keeps both ends awake.

The tradition carries a very practical observation here: people find it hard to hold both ends, so they own one and project the other. The kind of person you can't stand is frequently holding the other half of your opposition — which is why this aspect's work tends to happen inside relationships rather than alone.

So the way to handle it isn't averaging to the middle, it's alternating: give each end its own hours. Whoever tries to satisfy both at once ends up satisfying neither.
